Okoumal smells of warm, dry wood wrapped in soft amber and snuff. It is not loud — in fact, some people cannot smell it at all in isolation. But add it to a composition and the effect is unmistakable: warmth, volume, and richness appear from nowhere. This is one of those rare materials that works by stealth. Use it at low doses to fill out woody and amber bases, adding body and expensive-smelling roundness. It lasts over 420 hours on a blotter — well over a month — making it one of the most tenacious fixatives available. Evaluate it in blends rather than on its own.
