Dihydro Alpha Ionone is the shy (and costly) member of the family, rarely making an appearance. But this underrated aroma chemical forms a natural part of some of the most wonderful natural materials: Osmanthus, Champaca and violets. While the gamma variant (a constituent of ambergris) is warm and woody, this alpha type is ambery, floral and woody making it ideal for adding a violet note in a way that differs from most commercial fragrances which tend to rely on the much cheaper ionones. Our Dihydro Alpha Ionone is very high purity and has a wonderfully addictive and enticing odour which is far more delicate and natural than Dihydro Beta Ionone which is also fruitier and greener.
