Firsantol is a superstar of the synthetic sandalwood family and yet it still tends to go unused when Javanol and Polysantol are available. Why this is I do not know as Firsantol really is one of the most diffusive and luminous wood chemicals; a trace goes a long way. Blends with Polysantol and Dartanol (Laevo Bacdanol) are outstanding. A good comparison of the various chemicals is that Javanol is the most powerful and truest to the scent of sandalwood oil, Polysantol (nearly as strong as Javanol) has more sweetness and is an excellent all-round blender, and Firsantol is slightly weaker in odour intensity but the most diffusive in power.
