# Linalyl Propionate

CAS: 144-39-8

Linalyl propionate opens with fresh bergamot and lavender, but sweeter and softer than its famous cousin linalyl acetate. There is a distinct pear-berry fruitiness that the acetate simply does not have — richer, rounder, more floral. It smells like bergamot with the sharpness dialled down and the sweetness turned up. Use it as a modifier for linalyl acetate rather than a replacement. A small amount added to an acetate-based accord introduces fruity sweetness and depth without changing the overall bergamot-lavender direction. It is also more stable than linalyl acetate, which is notoriously prone to degradation — a practical advantage in finished products. Pair it with bergamot and clary sage… — Fraterworks
