Most perfumers default to vanillin or ethyl vanillin without a second thought. Vanitrope asks you to reconsider. Roughly twenty times vanillin's strength, it carries a heliotrope-violet dimension neither of those workhorses possess — plus tobacco warmth, a woody-spicy edge, and a powdery finish that belongs in a different league. That potency changes how you work. Derive no more than half your vanilla character from vanitrope, filling the rest with ethyl vanillin or vanillin for balance. The heliotrope dimension gives you a vanilla accord of genuine complexity. And unlike vanillin, it won't yellow your formulations.
